What do Coil Springs do on a Car?

No, definitely not. You should not drive with a broken or damaged coil spring. Your car will sit at an angle and put uneven pressure on your tyres causing them to wear quicker on that side. You won't be able to control your car as easily causing a hazard to other road users and pedestrians.
