Vauxhall Mokka Pros and Cons

Are you looking for a car with lots of equipment, a spacious interior and off-road styling? Look no further than the Vauxhall Mokka. This up and coming Vauxhall model is making a run for it and rivalling other favourites like the Nissan Juke and Kia Sportage. While it’s actually a small car, its chunky exterior and high suspension gives it the appearance of being much larger than it is. However, like with most cars, it does have some disadvantages. Let’s take a look at what you can look forward to when buying this car and what you’ll likely want to live without.

The Mokka: Pros

  • Interior- For a small car, it’s easy to think that interior space would be an issue, but this model proves that small doesn’t mean cramped. It can accommodate up to five adults of any shape and size with plenty of head and leg room. There are also deep storage bins on each side of the driver’s seat and flat footwells for extra space.

  • Boot Space- The boot space is much roomier than that of the Nissan Juke, offering 356 litres and 1,372 litres when the split-folding seats are laid down. This is plenty of room for outdoor gear, pushchairs, and large suitcases. The flat footwells, even on the four-wheel drive version, also ensure no storage space is wasted.

  • Reliability- Reliability has been spotty for Vauxhall in the past, but they’ve used the problems that have occurred to address any issue that might occur with the Mokka. The engine, as well as other Vauxhall parts, have been tried and tested. This means maintenance and repair to car parts should be rare.

  • Price- if you’re looking for an entry-level model, you can’t go wrong with the Mokka. It’s affordable at that stage. The price does increase dramatically if you choose a better engine type and four wheel drive, but the equipment included in the upgraded models makes up for it. You’ll be able to take advantage of equipment like sat-nav, DAB digital radio, and 17-inch alloys.

The Mokka: Cons

  • Fun- The Renault Mokka is functional, and it never really goes anywhere beyond that. It provides an average driving experience and is somewhat noisy during the drive. The automatic gearbox doesn’t always work as it should, either, often failing to change gears as often as it should.

  • Cheap Materials- If you’re looking for the wow factor, you aren’t going to find it in the Mokka. While its car parts might be reliable and high quality, the interior materials aren’t. The plastic look cheap and appear like they wouldn’t stand up to much wear and tear. The seat cloth is also inexpensive looking and flimsy.

  • Resale Value- If you’re planning on purchasing this vehicle and maintaining its car parts properly, you’ll most likely get a lot of use out of it over the years. However, if you plan on driving for only a few years and then selling it, don’t expect much in the way of resale value. This model depreciates quickly, making it unsuitable for those who aren’t interested in holding onto it for quite a while.

With its quality Vauxhall parts, functionality, and boot space, the Mokka may be the car for you. However, take some time to do some thinking about the disadvantages that come with this car before you sign on the dotted line.
