Okay, so these tips aren't just for Land Rover owners. Everyone can use a refresher when it comes to driving etiquette. Why? Well, have you read the statistics lately? Anger over driving, especially during busy times (like on the way to the office) is one of life's most complained about stressors. Here's a refresher that will make driving more enjoyable for you and other drivers around you, --and possibly reduce your stress levels as well!

Driving Etiquette 101

  • Eliminate Distractions

What do you do while you are driving? Are you thinking about the new car parts you want to order to improve your Rover? Are you listening to an audio book? Do you talk on your cell phone? Driving is an activity that demands every bit of your attention, and if you are thinking about replacement Rover parts or doing something else, you aren’t focusing on the road and are probably putting others at risk.
  • Indicator Lights

One of the most aggravating things to others is a failure to use indicator lights. If you've ever been driving behind someone who didn’t use theirs, you know the feeling of frustration experienced when you suddenly realise they are turning unannounced. This is an accident waiting to happen. The next time you have to make a turn or change lanes, use your indicator lights so the driver behind you will be prepared and know exactly how to respond.
  • Say Thank You

If you want to be a respectable Land Rover owner, you have to learn how to be a respectable driver. This means saying ‘thank you.’ If you are waiting to enter traffic at a busy junction, and another driver stops to let you in, take a moment to remember they didn't have to. It may be rude to leave you sitting there and waiting, but it wouldn’t be against the law. A quick wave of the hand is a gesture that will create a more positive driving experience.
  • Don’t Retaliate

It’s easy to become angry while driving, especially if other drivers aren’t nearly as courteous as you think they should be. If another driver pulls out in front of you and you weren't expecting it, don’t retaliate. Doing so puts yourself and other drivers at risk. Not only that, but you could cause an accident and end up having to purchase unnecessary Land Rover parts, instead of those accessories you've been eyeing. Keep calm, and keep driving safely.
  • Pull Off

If your Land Rover happens to malfunction in the middle of your trip, you'll likely need replacement Land Rover parts. Don't continue to drive after you're aware something is wrong. Pull off the road and call a mechanic. This not only ensures your safety, but it will often keep you from having to replace additional car parts that can easily be damaged if you're driving a malfunctioning Land Rover.

While you might feel as if you own the road in your new Land Rover, you need to be sure to mind your manners every time you drive. This not only ensures the safety of yourself and other drivers, but makes driving your Rover a much more pleasurable and stress free experience.
