The open road, the wind whipping through your hair, and your favourite CD playing your favourite song. It’s the dream, isn’t it? Both the Vauxhall Cascada and the Audi A5 Cabriolet can make that dream come true, but which one is the one you should be buying? Both offer superior car parts and excellent quality, so to choose the best option, you’re going to have to look at little deeper.
Price
The winner is: The Vauxhall Cascada. While the Cascada is seen as an expensive car in and of itself, it’s a much less expensive option than the Cabriolet, which costs £36,580 compared to the price of the Vauxhall at £27,600.
Costs
The winner is: The Cabriolet. While the Cascada may cost less upfront, it is slightly more expensive in the long run with £180 in road tax per year and higher CO2 emissions. The Cabriolet has a road tax of only £140 per year. The Cascada does win out in other areas, however, like it s 999 month warranty duration which will make it easier for drivers to afford repairs and replacement Vauxhall parts.
Performance
The winner is: The Cabriolet. With a larger engine size, unleaded fuel, a higher top speed of 146mph, and a fuel tank that allows for 631 miles, the Cabriolet is the obvious winner of this category. The Vauxhall isn’t far behind, however, with a top speed of 132mph and a tank range of 561 miles. The Cabriolet does offer a significant amount more power than the Cascada, however with 225 compared to 165.
Boot Space
The winner is: the Vauxhall. While the Cascada is definitely the car to drive when the sun is shining and when you want a memorable holiday trip, it’s also a nice car to drive when you’re going to pick the kids up from school or going to get the groceries. Why? Because of its boot space. Boasting 380 litres of space with the seats up, it’s perfect for almost anything. While a load limiting shelf does have to be in place in the boot so the roof can retract, you aren’t likely to miss the 100 litres of space you lose since the shelf protects your bags from becoming crushed when the roof folds down behind the seats.
Resale Value
The winner is: the Audi A5. Many individuals consider the Vauxhall Cascada to be the better option because it offers quality Vauxhall parts at a decent sales price, unlike the much more expensive Cabriolet. The problem is, this affects the resale value of the car. If you’re planning on keeping this car around for as long as possible and using it until it simply can’t function anymore, this might not be a problem; it’ll just cost you some replacement car parts and time to keep it going. If you plan on selling it in the next few years to upgrade to a newer model, however, you could end up with a significantly reduced resale price that might not help you pay off the current amount you owe on it.
So which should you choose? Both options offer positives and negatives; do a bit of research and find the one that works best for your lifestyle and price range.
