Sometimes it's hard to judge the true price of a car. Sure, you could simply consider the list price, or msrp, but what about the continued cost of having the vehicle? A car might initially cost less to purchase, but if you have to put more money into it over the years than you first spent, is it really worth buying? While you can't know everything your new Renault is going to need over the years and the amount of money that will come out of your pocket, you can prepare yourself by analysing many of the known car parts the Renault brand generally needs repaired or replaced.

Not sure where to start? Let's take a look at three popular Renault models and the common car part problems they are known to have.

Common Issues With Renault Scenic Parts

The Renault Scenic has a starting price of £18,325; the price, however, increases depending on the engine you choose and the bells and whistles you want.

Classified as a Multi Purpose Vehicle, the Renault Scenic was first produced in 1996 and currently has three generations available. It's design is similar to the Megane, and it has several diesel engine options available. It is known for a few reliability problems, however, that every owner should know about before making a purchase.

  • Poor Idling- Many owners find the Scenic has issues when idling. In addition, it doesn't perform as well as it should. This problem is often due to faulty ignition coils, which cost £21.00 to £50.00 to replace.
  • Front Suspension Problems- When it comes to Renault Scenic parts, the most common that cause problems for the front suspension are the anti-roll bar bushes. When these begin to fail, drivers often notice a chaffing or squeaking sound whenever they go over a bump or a rough surface. An anti-roll bar bush costs about £6.48.
  • Rear Electric Windows- Over time, drivers of the Renault Scenic may find that their electric windows no longer want to roll up and down as needed. This is most often due to a problem with the window regulator. Once this window mechanism goes out, it will need to be replaced, and can cost about £82.00.
  • Heater Problems- If you purchase a Renault Scenic in the summer, you may not even notice a problem exists with the heater until it begins to turn cold outside. These issues are common, however. Some settings may not work or no hot air may blow out. Most often, this is due to a broken heater motor resistor. Replacing this car part will cost about £50.00.

Common Issues With Renault Megane Parts

Thinking of purchasing a Renault Megane? A new 2014 Megane has a price that starts at £16,745 for the hatchback. The coupe and sport tourer are slightly more pricey at £17,645.

As a small family car, the Renault Megane has become a popular choice for families since 1995. They are reliable, and affordable, but they do have some commonly associated issues that you should know about before making a purchase. Because the Megane and the Scenic are so similar in design and build, they have the same type of common issues with idling, their electric windows, and heaters. They also have problems with their engines whining or vibrating. This can be due to two different Renault Megane parts. It could be caused by:

  • A broken clip located on the fuel line that rubs against the air conditioner hoses
  • Vibration of an inlet pipe

You'll need to figure out which one of these is causing the problem and replace it in order to stop the vibrating or whining from occurring again.

Common Issues With Renault Clio Parts

Eager to buy a new Renault Clio? The price range for this new car is from £10,595 to £16,095, depending on what perks you want included and your choice of engine size.

As a member of the supermini family, the Clio has always been a popular and common car on roads in the UK. It's been in production since 1988, with its fourth generation of vehicles placing it squarely in the lead of other superminis. While these cars are economical and reliable, there are a few problems drivers have come to expect when purchasing these models.

  • ABS Sensor Issues- No driver wants to see the ABS warning lights illuminate on the dashboard while they are driving down the road or feel the brakes pulsating beneath their foot. After all, it's scary to think your brakes might not be working right when you need them. It can happen, though, and does in many Clios. The Renault Clio parts to blame for this problem are the ABS sensors. A diagnostic check will be needed to determine which one is at fault.
  • Faulty Ignition Coil- The Renault Clio is known for its idling and sputtering problems. If you notice a problem with the way your Clio is performing after you purchase it, it could be due to a faulty ignition coil. The only way to repair these Renault parts is to replace them completely, which can cost between £40.00 and £50.00.
  • Rumbling Noise- Some drivers report hearing a rumbling noise coming from the tyres of their car when driving down the road. Most often this is caused by a damaged or loose wheel bearing. Replacing these car parts is a priority, as driving on a bad wheel bearing can be dangerous and cause damage to other Clio parts. Replacing this part will cost between £23.00 and £38.00, not counting any help or labour costs you may have pay in order to replace the part.

Are you trying to determine how much a new Renault will cost you in the long run? If you want to find a Renault that won't break your bank account, consider all of the money you'll have to spend, from the initial price to replacement Renault car parts. By doing this, you'll be able to see exactly how much you'll need to invest in order to make the car of your dreams last as long as possible.
