As we watch the leaves turn shades of red, orange, yellow, and brown, falling from the trees like they do every year, it’s a reminder: the holiday season is coming up. With this season comes many travel plans for most individuals. Some are heading home, some are off to visit relatives, and still others are taking that much-needed vacation.
Most of these travellers have their bags packed and ready to go, but haven’t given a second thought to the actual trip. Winter can be a dangerous time on the road, especially if you aren’t prepared for the hazards that could occur. Prepared drivers are much less likely to get into trouble, and if they do, their time and effort will have prepared them to take charge, not panic.
If you’re heading out in your Land Rover this holiday season to visit friends or family, make sure you’re ready for any situation winter could through at you with these tips.
Winter Travelling Tips
If You Become Stranded
If, despite everything, you become stranded, stay and wait for help. Use your emergency supplies and stay as warm as possible in the car. If the car still turns on, run it for about ten minutes every hour and use the heater; be sure to crack the windows, however, to avoid becoming a victim of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Call for help, and wait in the Land Rover until it arrives. Remember that your car is much larger than you are. It will be more easily spotted by emergency services than you would be.
