Ford are to release a patented system that locks the windows, doors and sounds a bell when the car is approached from the back.
The system, primarily designed for Police officers who are sometimes targeted by criminals whislt on patrol, acts in a preventative manner to secure the car if approached from behind. This system is the latest in a long line of technology releases from the company with a focus on car AI.
It's a big industry and somethingt that's growing hugely due to the potential to help the world's car users. From driverless cars to brakes that automatically deploy if the driver is too slow. We are going to be seeing massive progress in this area over the next 10 years. Computers have now got so small and so powerful that lots of brain power can be packed into a tiny box, couple this with roaming internet and you have many possibilities for progress.
Perhaps soon we will be buying apps for our cars along with our smart phones. Perhaps we might want a different colour scheme for our electronic dashboard or a different lighting setup. Who knows what could be customisable if the settings were opened up to an app market place.
In the meantime we'll have to keep our Ford's running and so if you need service parts then please look at our Ford Parts section >
