You’ve packed your bags, made reservations at a few hotels along the way, and arranged for a friend to come by and water your plants; you are ready for your road trip. While you may be eager to hit the road, though, is your Audi?

When you are out on the road in a place you’ve never been before, you are vulnerable, and avoiding a minor or major breakdown is essential. A little preparation beforehand can make all the difference later on, saving you precious time, money, and a lot of aggravation. Before you head out on what will be a fantastic trip, you need to make sure your car as ready as you are by spending a little “quality time” with it and performing three different inspections: a walk-around, a look under the bonnet, and a look under your Audi.

A Walk-Around Inspection

When you head out on a trip, you need to make sure even the most basic Audi parts are intact and ready to perform at their best.

  • Wiper Blades

Take a look at the conditions of your wiper blades. They should be pliable and soft; if you notice any separation from the retainer or cracks, replace them before your trip.
  • Lamps

Check to make sure your headlamps, turn indicators, and brake lights are all functioning properly. Also, make sure the headlamps are aligned correctly as well for the optimum lighting while on the road.
  • Tyres

The last step on the walk-around should be checking the tyres on your Audi. While these aren’t necessarily “Audi parts,” they are an essential part of a safe trip. While the tyres are cold, check their pressure and then look for any signs of uneven wear.

Under the Bonnet Inspections

  • Fluides

From radiator coolant to washer fluid, ever single fluid under the bonnet of your Audi needs to be checked before the road trip. If necessary, change the fluids or replace what is missing.
  • Belts and Hoses

When you open the hood, be on the lookout for car parts like belts and hoses that might be brittle, leaking, torn, cracking, or too soft. If you notice any belts or hoses that look as if they need to be adjusted, aligned, or simply replaced, do so.
  • Battery Connexions

The battery in your car is one of the most important Audi parts; without it your car won’t work. Make sure to take the time to check and clean the cable terminals and battery posts of any corrosive build-up to ensure optimum performance.

Under The Car Inspection

Under your Audi, the biggest problems you will face are leaky car parts. Examine the area where you park to see if any fluid residue is present. If it is, it needs to be tested to determine what type of fluid is leaking from your car parts and quickly fixed to avoid future problems and a ruined road trip.

The exhaust system also has a chance of leaking, and the gases from this system can be dangerous, even deadly. Prior to leaving for your trip, have your exhaust system checked by a professional mechanic.

You might be ready for your road trip, but is your Audi? Inspect the car parts that could be problematic on a road trip before you leave so you can enjoy your time in your Audi.
