Forget Spring Cleaning- It’s Time for Spring Maintenance

Winter is the type of season that changes the way you think about getting outside. You’d much rather stay indoors, where it’s warm, and if you do have to walk out your front door, it’s only in a mad race to your car so you can avoid the bitter bit of cold as much as possible. Unfortunately, this often means that you do as little as possible to keep your Land Rover up and running. In fact, you might have done little more than fill it with petrol and hope that it was strong enough to make it until spring.

Now that spring is here, it’s time to make some changes. As the weather grows warmer, you need to get outside and do a bit of spring maintenance to ensure your car is ready for the months ahead.

Spring Maintenance for Your Land Rover

  • Get it Clean- Spring cleaning indoors starts with cleaning and decluttering, and so should spring maintenance for your car. Take the time to remove all the clutter from the inside of the Land Rover that may have accumulated over the winter (including those unwanted Christmas gifts from Aunt Ruby that you still haven’t unloaded from the boot.) Unloading the car will take extra weight off the vehicle, improving fuel efficiency and longevity.

  • Get it Clean, Part Two- Once you’re done scrubbing the inside, take some time to concentrate on the outside. Slush and grime from the roads during winter can take a toll on the paint and exterior of the car, even leading to rust. If you do spot rust on any car part, use a high quality rust remover to get rid of it before it spread to other Land Rover parts.

  • Check Land Rover Parts- Your car parts need to be in perfect working condition in order to ensure your Land Rover operates smoothly and efficiently. Do a check of all the major systems. Check your battery to see if it is still charged completely and isn’t showing signs of wear and deterioration. Test your oil levels, transmission fluid levels, coolant levels, and power steering fluid levels as well. Other car parts, like your spark plugs or wires may need to be replaced, so have these analysed too.

  • Check for Safety- Certain car parts may look like they are operating well, but you won’t really know if they are working properly until they are tested in the right environment. For your safety, parts like your windscreen wipers should be evaluated to ensure they work the way they are supposed to. You may not be able to see their true abilities, however, until it rains. Thankfully, spring is a time of the year when rain is never in short supply.
