A4 E P C Warning lamp

Hi All ,
Can anyone help ,
I have been getting the E P C Lamp coming on and cutting the power , this happened about 3 times in 4 months but on friday it happened a lot and was causing the engine to cut out, while in motor way conditions. Scary !
There have been no other warning lamps on .
I scanned the car for faults and this is what it came up with
"Fuel pressure regulation control range exceeded"
Does anyone know what may be causing this ? What needs replacing to cure this ?

Fuel pressure regulator would be the obvious choice!
What was the code, and what did you read it with?

I borrowed a reader that came from E C S tuning in the U S A. The code number was 17482.P1020.Description as above,

I have just replaced the high pressure pump , now we wait and see if fault reccurs
