Polo 1.4 Gearbox

Anyone know if a different code gearbox would fit a Polo ?

I have a 1996 1.4 AEX engine and has a DKF code gearbox.

I have seen some gearboxes for sale which appear the same and some of the other codes ETD etc from slightly later Polos do have the same gear ratios, clutch diam, drive shaft diam ...

... but is it as simple as that  :-\

Do a google for "stevens VW". They're a breakers and very clued up on this sort of thing
