The Xantia saga continues...

DocBrown:
Hi Mick,
I finally got the replacement engine back in the car on the 4th May and spent yesterday re-threading the looms back in, under and around all the various parts. My only worry is the chip controlled injector pump. I managed to remove the armoured cover that protects the stop/start solenoid valve for the replacement engine as the shear bolts hadn't been snapped off since it left the factory! Thank goodness as I could then access the solenoid feed wire where it leaves the chip controller which on 1998 model Xantias and later also sits under the toughened cover plate. Just to see how tough this is, I have tried to remove the cover on my old pump with a view to swapping over the chip but am stuck as one of the shear bolts seems to be a lot harder than the others. I've used cobalt and a titanium drill bit and have blunted both!!! The pump itself is in great condition so I don't want to have to hammer it off as I'll probably end up damaging it.
Anyway, the plan is to plumb it all in and see if she starts and runs. Once I know there's no LHM or coolant leaks then a trip to the MOT station is in order. Can't wait as the car we're using at the moment is petrol, does 36mpg and has hard suspension. I miss the floatiness of the Xantia...
