hi , just wondering if anyone can tell me what the fuel economy is like for a 1.9 straight diesel 1997 golf. Am thinking about buying one to drive from laois to dublin for work. The fecker took my company van so need something cheap and cheerful and would like to know what they are like on diesel. If anyone has any other suggestions they would be gratefully rec. :?:

you cant go wrong with mpg on these,my uncle used to have one,it was the td version and he would get 45-50+mpg,even better on motorway

The enquiry was made a good while ago, gor, so dustin has probably sorted something out by now. In any case, he was asking about n/a diesels rather than Td or Tdi.

Never mind, It's an easy thing to overlook, with the low traffic on this forum. That topic was still on the first page of the listings, despite being made in august. Incidentally, I wonder who 'the fecker' was? The O.P's boss?

lol theres so many different sections on here,dont know where to start! just recently signed up,im normally on other forums (ukpassats,golfgti,vwaudi),i think it will pick up but just needs time
