Golf Mk2 1990 CL Hazard Warning Switch
« on: January 26, 2009, 04:22:17 PM »
Hi, need a bit of help. Just failed MoT due to my Hazard warning switch being faulty, problem is I don't know what the part number is to get a new one (must only be pence to replace), anyone help?

(When I say the switch I mean the red switch cover that is mounted on the top of the steering column. The present one is cracked and therefore sticks a bit).

Help greatly appreciated, and sorry to waffle but trying to be comprehensive.

Unfortunately it's joined to the indicator stalk, so a whole new one is needed.
Shouldn't be too pricey, and there's always ebay if cash is tight

Sorry, not being to articulate, the actual switch (and hazard indicator bulb) work, it's just the red plastic surround that's cracked, and hence jamming against the side. If you remove the cracked red surround everything works fine. I could leave the surround off, but would have to hope the test centre doesn't break it further.

Your best bet is the scrappy, pull one off and stick it in your pocket.

Ohhhh, could be trickey just taking the cover off - i dont think they would go for that at the mot centre, but it may be open to a bit of leeway:

Check this out, may be handy:- http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_150.htm

If not, the switch asmb are still avail from us as new parts (#93379 £23.50+vat).

Hope you get it sorted

Hang on...I might have one in the garage as had to buy a whole new switch assembly last year when the car got broken into, but I didn't need to replace the hazard switch.

I can check tonight when I'm back home if you like...?

Pete.
