Webber Carb

<< < (3/4) > >>

JOHN@HEATHROW:
Strangly they were both quite good runners for,The 88' 1.3 Pierburg equipped (£100)yo-yo'd a bit on cold idle, so i gave that one to my sis.
My 1.6 (£60) (Weber-ized) was better,i gave it death eveywhere and the only problem was the starter motor which, once bashed with a jack handle [:D],never gave any more problems.
Maybe every carb model needs a blat every no & then to keep the carbs clean [?].

What age was the 1.6? I have the feeling that my 1.6 should be performing a hell of a lot better than it is. Of course this is not helped by having a permanantly cracked exhaust, which I am putting down to less than perfect engine mounts.

Looking forward to getting my own garage and playing round with it in the summer. That is if the missus will let me get away from decorating!

JOHN@HEATHROW:
That one was an 86/87 on a D plate. The only thing it had done was the plastic arches, the dredded window reg & armour door plates.
No oil change, water top ups carb fiddling & i still couldn't break the blinking thing [:p].
Garages are the way forward, they stop your ears from hurting, when you miss what you should have done on the DIY days, cause you cant hear them shouting at you [:D][:D].

The one I was looking at on Ebay went for £67, not a bad price but someone pipped in there before me. Oh well I'm sure I'll find another. Are they quite a common conversion? Am I likely to go to a scrappy and find one?

Silver Champion:
Which ebay section were you looking in?

That is the bad thing about ebay - you search for something and it comes back with different results from 5 minutes ago!

£67 isn't too bad at all - if only I had seen that one!

I have rung round a few scrappers and they never seem to have webbers in - but it is worth doing it every couple of months!

Cheers
