overflow from expansion tank

(1/1)

stan_deezy:
If it's the same system as most modern cars then the issue is the coolant tank cap itself: it contains a small pressure relief valve which wears out with age.

Get a new coolant tank cap and it should solve the problem.

JOHN@HEATHROW:
EC,
Was this problem why you changed the stat/pump in the first place [?]
As Stan says the tank cap is the easiet & cheapest thing to try.
How long ago was the stat changed & when you changed it did the system bleed out properly[?]

It's not a job,it's an adventure !!

eddieC:
HNY,changed the stat about 2 months ago it was done by a saab technician, and replaced with new cap,the only thing he hasn,t is the rad he back flushed so no blockages there, could it be a faulty h/g

eddieC:
when i am stuck in traffic or its just ticking over after a while the water just starts gushing from the expansion tank any ideas what the problem is,i have change the thermostat, heat censor, water pump, also i have had the H/G changed about 2 years ago,but not for the gushing problem that was another problem i had,any suggestions
