ANTIPOLLUTION FAULT ON 307 HELP PLEASE!!!
« on: October 02, 2007, 07:26:22 AM »
The particle filter is meant to clean itself, by injection of some Eloys fluid (sorry can't spell it) into the fuel system.  This raises the temperature of the filter to such a degree that it cleans itself.  The fluid reservoir is topped up at 80k miles - dealer job - so I reckon this is what your message is telling you.

My 2006 2.0 HDi 136 HP C5 with 21000 miles came up with an anti pollution fault with no noticeable performance problem a month ago but I was able to reset it using my Sykes Pickavant ACR 4 code reader and the OBD pod.
The fault code has not reoccured so maybe it was a glitch or the main dealer who serviced it 3 days before caused the glitch with their diagnostics machine or maybe it was a coincidence?
If you live anywhere near Hull - East Yorkshire I maybe able to reset it for you.

Thanks for the offer MISTUART but I live in Stoke,Staffordshire. I had read about taking it for a spin only using 1st,2nd and 3rd gears keeping it over 4000 revs for about 10-20 miles to help clear it. I've done this and I've disconnected the battery for the ecu to reset itself but the warning is still coming up. I think my next step is going to have to take the particulate filter off and clean it out with some compressed air as that's another thing I've found out although I don't really fancy it, as my previous experience of taking exhaust systems apart is that they are a real pig to separate.

Does your HDI90 actually have a perticulate filter? I thought they were only fitted to the 110 model.
If you had a blocked filter, you would get the message "unblock diesel filter". The message you are getting suggests another problem.
I accidentally disconnected one of the solenoid vacuum valves on my 110, and got the antipollution fault message.
The only safe way to know is to get the codes read.
What year is this car by the way?

If you do have a filter, then you can clean it. I did mine by removing it and reverse flushing it with several kettle-fulls of boiling water, blowing through with compressed air. I continued until I no longer got any white ash out. I then dried it off as best I could, left it overnight in a warm place, and put it back on. Got a bit of steam out first, but have had no warnings about blocked filters since.

Thanks for the advice brilec. It's an 04. I think I might try the cleaning out if its got one on it. I'll have to check. Is there any easy way to tell?

The filter fitted to the 110 04 model is a two part thing with the cat. It is basically the middle box, but you will see a flange in the centre, bolted up. The filter is the rear half. It will also have two small tubes coming out of it, one each end (pressure sensors) and a temperature probe in the middle.

Thanks for the info brilec. This was posted before you put the info on the other thread! With work commitments I haven't been able to look at the car yet cus it's normally dark when I get home and until you put on your thread I didn't know what I was looking for.

I've had a message come up on Saturday morning saying antipollution fault. My car is the 307 HDi 90 bhp. Theres been no major drop in performance yet but before there is I was wandering is there a way to clear the particulate filter rather than taking it to a garage which I really cant afford at the moment.
