Saab 9-3TdiAdvice on routine servicing

JMD,
There is nowt to worry about when doing std servicing on these cars, the oil filters an element/paper type which comes out of the top of the housing (so thats one less place for the oil to run down your arm from [:D]).
As for the pollen filter, it does have one (rectangular) and its located under the wiper arm scuttle panel, you may have to pop the wiper arms off to get at it (not as bad as it sounds) couple of clips/screws around the edge & job done.
Semi synt (10/40w) should do the job nicley, but for sure, keep to  the intervals as best you can.
Hope it goes well..
J.

Great cars. Tough and built like brick out houses!
Just don't skimp on parts quality or oil.

Saab 9-3TdiAdvice on routine servicing

My son recently became the proud owner of a Saab 9-3 Tid. While I have been servicing (Oil changes & Filters) my own cars for years Opels & Citreons. I have no experience of Saab's. I did manage to find the fuel filter in a strange place beside the rear wheel. I would like to know what are the pitfalls (if any) in changing oil filter & fuel filter. Also can anybody advise me if there is a pollen filter in this model Year 2000 & if so-where is it situated. Finally is a semi-synt oil adequate for this model. I understand that a Haynes Manual for this car is due for publication next February. Thanks in anticipation
