This problem is caused by the ignition switch:

Thanks..will look into that. As I've had the usual problem with the door and bootlocks I got a set of replacement locks including ignition and wiring. So will try to fit that soon.

Thanks Again.

Xantia Heater Fan not working..So dismantle car??
« Reply #2 on: March 29, 2006, 03:00:57 PM »
Hi
Would appreciate help. 16v 1996 Xantia
The heater fan worked ok but started to work only if the ON slider control was clouted to the ON position. The illumination on the heater control would also only light by clouting the On slider for the heater (rather than gently sliding the control)
The fan (and illumination) stopped working altogether recently. I've checked the fuses and all appear to be ok. Incidentally...the heated rear window stopped working at the same time.May have smelt burning wiring as it stopped working.

Any Ideas or sollutions???

Not upto removing the fascia and the whole internal front of the car to replace the heater. Been there and done that when replacing the heater matrix in the last xantia I had.

Aren't they a joy?
