Hi ,the best way is to use a mirror and a torch .
You will notice a hole about the size of a pound coin next to it is the hole you are looking for.
I am assuming that you are looking in the correct area .

I have been trying to find the hole in the cylinder block to lock the flywheel.  In a drawing in the manual ( Page 2B.3) it is clearly shown just above the engine ID plate on a flange, and just below and to the right is a sensor (for position reference). On my engine the flange, ID plate and sensor are not there, and more importantly neither is the timing hole.  Where the sensor is shown in the drawing is a plastic cover, screwed down.
Could anyone help me locate the timing hole, please?
