French Cars / Immobiliser Problem
« on: May 24, 2009, 12:49:02 PM »
Hi Guys,

I want to thank you for all your help regarding the Immobiliser Problem.  Okay the ECU was damaged, but we got it repaired, There is this guy here that works wonders on these thing electronically.  However, we took parts from anoter another one and made one good one.
The Draw back is, I had to use the Transponder and Injection Computer from the other ECU Programming.  I could not use my original Transponder (The little unit on the Switch Key).

But Guess what? The two weeks the Car was Packed up, the Auto Transmission refuse to work.  It is not engaging any Gear. I know it was on borrowed time for the last two years with a lot of jerkey shifting.  I have to get an opinion from the Transmission guy on Monday.

By the way, does any one know what I will have to do to replace the Auto Transmission with a Used Manual Gear Box? I know the electronics in the car may have to play a part.

Next time I have to get an European Car it certainly will be Manual.

Regards

But what about the mobiliser Light on the Dash, what can caused that to Go off?.  Even though the Battery is low, shouldn't that be flashing?

Thank You Neo. I checked the Battery and got 12 Volts but are you saying I should check it through the Alternator instead i.e., the output of the alternator?

Well I cannot get the care Running to check for the 14V. It seem to be immobilise at this point., no flashing red light on the Dash/Instrument Panel.

I'll keep you posted on Progress, thanks again.

French Cars / Immobiliser Problem

Hi Guys,

I have a Renault Megane 1.6 Sedan (Auto).  The Battery Died on me, I jumped Started with the help of one of those Professional Jump Start Unit that the Auto Assist People use.   Car started Fine, returned home. Cleaned the Neg side of the battery pole and topped up with some fluid. The car started on its own, made a block and returned but will not start again.

Bought a battery the next working day (2 day delay) placed it in, Car tumbles (engine turn) but not running.  Some where along the way I discovered the Immobiliser light on the Dash not flashing as it normally do.

A Scan was done and it came up with "Battery Low" Any Ideas? Do you think the Computer is Damaged?

Please advise, I live in a place where everything is expensive and the UK Pound is like 9 - 1, cannot afford too much trial and errors.

Thanks in advance.

Imtiaz.
