Audi Car Parts Forum / Audi 80 Tdi idle problem
« on: August 17, 2010, 05:39:23 PM »
Hi all
not long been home after buying a 1994 80 tdi avant, its done over 200k but engine seems sound as it took me 6.5 hrs to get home! with no problems.
Just a few probs

Engine is hunting on idle
Between 1000 & 2000 the revs are quite jerky unless under load
&
After prolonged boosting (up a long hill) the revs die slightly as if it stops boosting

has anyone else experienced any of this? I have been reading a few forums and they all seem to think its the Inj' pump but im not convinced, been faffing with it a bit checking hoses etc but non the wiser.

Ben

Oh Mate, it sounds like you have a friday afternoon car there,
Maybe something to do with a control module or may even just be a simple earth problem. Good luck

French Cars / About that delay
« on: May 25, 2009, 09:59:14 AM »
Its nothing to worry about, just means there is a delay in the line between ignition switch and the fuel cut off valve.
I have had a few diesels that have done it

I shouldn't worry too much about it, i have had 2 zx td's and one ran hotter than the other. Your right tho, they should run at about 92deg.
Possible faulty guage or even a blocked pipe somewhere.
Just DONT let it get over 120 ish or a new head gasket will be needed for sure

French Cars / Saxo idle problem
« on: April 25, 2009, 07:14:51 PM »
I have had the same problem with the pug 205 GTI 1.9, turns out to be a dirty idle control valve.

The zx 2.0l 16v on the other hand devoloped a fault with the Throttle Position Sensor,  its an 8 or 10 pin long narrow plug, plugged into a small black unit att' to one end of the butterfly valve on the throttle body.

Not familiar with the saxo engines but i can't imagine the frogs will have changed it that much!!

Also, as its had a new HG. just double check all the plugs are plugged in, and in the right places.
Hope this sort of helps.

Does the red light on the fob come on when you press either of the buttons? if so its prob a fault with the rcl system. I think the system will only die when not used  for a long period of time

Same as the ZX.
You need to replace the elastic, i found some in my local hardware shop.

Pull out the plugs on either end of the shelf and cut the elastic to length, and join to the existing cord (cableties) its fairly straight forward when you get it all out. You need to make sure you cut them the correct length to retract the cords.
EG the left cord is held by the right plug and so on.

Alternatively you can go to citroen and probably pay through the nose for some new ones!

Hope this helps

I have just bought a Cit Dispatch R reg in superb cond, although the head gasket has gone. (chucking water out after 2 mins run time)  Removed the head (NEVER AGAIN!!!) and there is no evident damage to the gasket. Anyone else experienced this?
