VW Water Cooled / VW GOLF MK4 MAF SENSOR
« on: February 03, 2008, 08:28:53 PM »
Hi

Please does anyone know whether I can test a MAF meter?

I suspect mine might be goosed, but I don't want to spend close to £100 and find that it wasn't the MAF after all..

Can I test it before I replace it?

hi
Ive got a problem with my 2001 1ltr vw polo. ive notice that when i fill  up my petrol tank the gauge goes up and down frequently. for example i would put in 10quid and my petrol needle would reach around half a tank but as soon as my foot is down the guage would go straight down. When i stop it would just take its time to come up. ive removed the fuel sender and clean and checked it but problem still occur.. plz help me?

its not the coolant and air mass sensor and ive checked the lambda sensor on the computer and its running ok.. spark plugs, leads etc all new..

as this is all electronic fuel injection - and if you know the air filter, HT leads and plugs are in good order - it is most likely a sensor causing it too over fuel, such as air mass meter, coolant temperature, or lambda. Vag-com to check the expensive ones. maybe worth changing the coolant sensor first as its so cheap.
