VW Water Cooled / Which Weber?

I have a weber problem
My 1.6 driver modified went ka-put on my 20th birthda so i am converting it to a GTi

anyway i have bought another 1.6 driver to get me from A to B not to C as it is standard and the auto choke is stickin so i took the webber off the modified driver and put it on this one but for got where all the pipes go the car runs but not as the other one did there is a pipe in the back of the carb which is a breather of some sort as it is sucking air i have stuck a screw in it and the car runs if i take it out it stalls
can anyone help me or send me instructions to where the pepes should connect (its a manual by the way)
any help would be great as i hope to sell the car once me GTi is in the other.
