Skoda Car Parts / Skoda Fabia towbar wiring
« on: May 20, 2010, 06:52:55 PM »
I have just scrapped my little old R reg mk4 polo, sadly, and I now have a fabia instead. I have ordered a towbar for it but i am wondering how im going to do the wiring. On the old polo it was easy because there were connections on the back of the light clusters which i just tapped onto and hey presto, but i cant find any on the fabia. Does anyone know if there is a connector somewhere else behind the boot lining or am i gonna have to use the dreaded scotchlocks?

Any info gratefully recieved.

Thanks neo I will try this for starters. I have the plug remover for the gearbox filler now so I will try the oil level and then the gearbox repair kit.

Nice mk2 btw. Dad had a 1600 a few years ago. Great car.

Thanks again

Gear selection on my 1998 1.4CL polo is very difficult particularly first gear. Very notchy and sometimes takes a few hard pushes to get it into gear.  Any idea gratefully received.

VW Water Cooled / Pin outs on the rear light clusters

Does anybody know what the pin outs on the rear light clusters are?  Im installing a towbar and would rather not have to splice into any cables.

I have noticed this problem getting gradually worse over the past few months.  When cold I start the car pull away fine then as I approach the junction at the end of my road, clutch down, brake and the engine stalls out. Restart the car and it doesnt happen again till the car is cold.

any help geatly appreciated.

VW Water Cooled / Polo mk4: Lots of noise from the back
« on: March 10, 2006, 04:40:11 PM »
Hey guys im at a bit of a loose end with this one.  Ive had this noise for a bit and its gradually getting louder, I thought it was the wheels bearings so I changed the(turns out they needed changing anyway). However this did not cure the problem so I have no idea where the noise is coming from.

The warning buzzer that tells you when you have left your lights on has packed up, does anyone know where it actually is in the dashboard?  Any help greatly appreciated!

VW Water Cooled / door Buzzer dont work
« on: March 15, 2007, 01:26:38 PM »
I have had the same problem with my polo for many years.  I tracked it down to the buzzer itself which is in the instrument binnicle.  A bloody pain to change!

Sorry I forgot to say it was a 1998 Polo mk4 hatchback and also that I will not be using the towbar for a caravan just some bikes so I wont be clogging up any roads as a result!

Thanks for all your help guys

its a 98 polo I have no idea wot the carb is.  2 be honest this is the first trouble iv had with it from new so I havnt really bothered takin all the covers and stuff off.  The spark plugs were done recently and I asked them 2 check the rotor arm, cap etc on the service.  Il whip all the covers off and have a look at some point when I hav a bit of time on my hands.  Its more of an annoyance than a problem so im happy just 2 leave it 4 the mo.

Unfortunately I dont have access to a fault code reader.  Does the computer store any fault codes for the 1.4 model that has distributer and carb rather than fuel injection and electronic ignition?
